Dance Society.jpg

Newly established in 2012, the Dance Society (previously existing as two individual clubs: the Chinese Dance and Martial Arts Society as well as the Modern Dance Club) exhilarated audiences with its brilliant and impressive repertoire.
The Dance Society achieved the ‘Gold’ Award in 2007, ‘Gold with honours’ Award in 2009 and 2011 for the Singapore Youth Festival Central Judging of Chinese Contemporary Dance. In addition, The Dance Society took part in the SYF 2013 Arts Presentation Chinese Dance Category and International Dance category, with both dance teams performing commendably, obtaining Distinctions for their SYF 2013.
The group has performed at many school based performances such as CCA Fair, Chinese New Year Celebrations, Speech Day, National Day and Teachers’ Day Celebrations. The Dance Society has also been held in esteemed regard by various performing arts insitutions in Singapore, and proudly represented the school at several national platforms including a modern dance titled "The Silent Cry" during the "Moves The City" event at Ngee Ann City in 2013. Notably, the Chinese Dance team was invited as the only group vis-à-vis other secondary schools in Singapore to perform a Chinese dance, titled "Beyond Pasture", in the SYF Closing concert in Esplanade Theatre in 2013. Dance Society has also achieved a standard of excellence through other national performances such as Chingay, YOG, and River Hongbao. The Martial Arts team took part in the Hong Kong Wushu Competition (Gold, Silver and Bronze medals), and the Showcase! National Wushu Competition.
Furthermore, the club contributes to voluntary commitments and service through performances for a few events such as the 'Yishun Kampong Heritage Trail' Opening performance, 'Siglap Constituency National Day Dinner' performance, 'Hong Bao Presentation Ceremony', and 'Mid-Autumn Celebration at Temasek Primary School'.
The Dance Society will continue to strive for excellence by endeavoring to professionally train both aesthetics and technical prowess of its members, and transform them into versatile artists with charisma and stage presence.
