School Leaders' Message
We are happy to welcome BDSians back to school in 2021, and would also like to extend a warm welcome to the new additions to our BDS family, our Sec 1 students. To our Sec 1 students, we are happy that you have chosen to join us, and are looking forward to supporting you in your transition to secondary school life. We believe you will be able to thrive in your new environment as well as develop the school’s ICARE values under the guidance of the many people you will meet in this school – Form Teachers, subject teachers, allied support staff, peers and seniors.
Looking Ahead to 2021
Despite the challenges we faced as a nation due to the Covid-19 situation in 2020, we look forward to seizing the opportunities that have arisen in the past year, and embracing the new normal that is now part of our lives. We have much to look forward to in the coming year, with the Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PLDP) and Blended Learning set to become regular features of secondary school education with effect from 2021. We hope, through these initiatives, to guide our students to become passionate, intrinsically motivated and self-directed learners who are enthusiastic about learning for life, even after they graduate from the school.
Another important change that will take place this year is the implementation of the new Character and Citizenship Education (CCE) curriculum for the lower secondary students. With its emphasis on contemporary issues, mental well-being and peer support, the new curriculum aims to build a generation of youth who are resilient, have good character, and practise active citizenry. This is very much aligned to our school’s mission to Build character and Develop leaders of tomorrow who Serve with conviction. Our teachers will be engaging in ongoing professional development this year, to continue to hone their capabilities as CCE teachers.
With much to look forward to, we hope that 2021 will turn out to be a wonderful year for all BDSians. Let us continue to support one another in our endeavours and cheer one another on even when we encounter difficulties. It is by working together that we will emerge stronger.
